The Green Thumbs

Honda Transmission Mfg., Inc., Honda Transmission Mfg., Inc. Honda Logistics North America’s Green Thumb NC Circle team looked at there company’s environmental footprint and saw there were ways to improve on it. The kitchenette in HLNA’s main building used mostly Styrofoam for coffee and water. After research, they discovered that Styrofoam takes 500 years to biodegrade and, when used with hot liquids, it leaches out cancer causing and neurological damaging chemicals. HLNA used 1,400 cups per year. The countermeasure was to remove all Styrofoam cups and have associates use reusable cups for coffee and water. A flyer on HLNA’s steps toward further sustainability will also be included in each new onboarding packet.
