About this Talk
Current Situation: Flap Fairing installation has been exceeding the planned build hours by an average of 76.7 labor hours per installation
Goal/Target: Reduce the actual build hours for the Flap Fairings installation from 126.7 hours to a goal of 48.9 hours
Countermeasure: Elimination of waste, training awareness to all performing the task, re-sequence of work order steps, and introduction of a Manufacturing Tool to help optimize the installation process
Result: Reduced the installation build hours from 126.7 hours to 40.8 hour average per aircraft for a 67.8% reduction (8.1 hours under the team’s goal)
